Surfing around Kuta, Lombok: where to start
Kuta is a useful base for exploring South Lombok’s surf. Booking a lesson around Kuta does not necessarily mean surfing at Kuta Beach itself: the session should follow your ability and the conditions at nearby breaks.

Kuta Lombok is not Kuta Bali
Use the island name when planning your trip, searching maps, or messaging an instructor. Tell Adel where you are staying in South Lombok, your available dates, and whether you have surfed before. That gives the conversation a clear starting point without committing you to a beach before conditions are checked.
Which nearby spot fits your trip?
Selong Belanak is commonly used for beginner lessons on a sandy beach break. Tanjung Aan and Gerupuk offer reef-based options for progression when conditions and ability match. Gerupuk contains several separate breaks, so the name of the bay alone does not tell you how demanding a session will be.

Decide what you want from the session: trying surfing for the first time, gaining confidence, or working on your turns. Let that goal lead the choice of spot. Swell, wind, tide and the number of people in the water can change which option makes sense. A beautiful beach photo is a reason to visit, but it is not a forecast.
Arrange your surf day
Send Adel your dates, number of surfers, experience and where you are staying. If you already have a preferred beach, mention it. He can discuss the session with you directly on WhatsApp. Prices and arrangements are agreed in that conversation.
General planning guidance, not a live surf report. Confirm the break and conditions locally before entering the water.
