When to surf in Lombok: dry season, wet season and your level
The best time to surf Lombok depends on the kind of session you want. A month associated with powerful swell is not automatically the best month for your first lesson.

Dry season: more swell is not always easier
May through October generally brings drier weather and more frequent, stronger southwest swell. Southeast trade winds can affect different bays differently. Experienced surfers may seek that energy, while learners need a suitable sheltered or smaller-wave option. Do not read a regional peak-season label as a promise of gentle conditions everywhere.

November through April usually brings more rain and a change in wind patterns. Some breaks benefit from those winds, and surfing remains possible. Rainy-season travel still needs flexibility around weather and local conditions. Neither empty lineups nor small surf should be assumed simply because you visit outside the busiest months.

The change of seasons is gradual and varies between years. April–May and October–November may mix patterns rather than follow a neat calendar boundary. Use the season to plan the trip broadly, then use a current forecast and local assessment to plan individual sessions.
Already booked your flight?
Start with what you can control: share your dates, level and goals with Adel. If you have several free mornings, mention them. If you only have one day, say so. There is no need to choose a demanding break to make a short trip feel worthwhile; the best session is one you can actually enjoy.
General planning guidance, not a live surf report. Confirm the break and conditions locally before entering the water.
